NOTIFICATION OF AHRI WEBSITE INCIDENT - FEBRUARY 2024
Dear Vaughan,
I am writing to inform you about a security incident that has occurred on the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) website: ahri.com.au.
At this stage, AHRI is notifying you as a matter of precaution.
What has happened?
In February 2024, an unauthorised person/s accessed the website via AHRI’s website provider and installed a script and malware on the AHRI website, which were active between 1 and 2 February 2024.
AHRI’s website provider informed us the malware may have prompted site visitors to download a fake web browser update. If you visited the website between 1 and 2 February 2024, your device may be affected. Note that if you visited the website using a mobile phone you would not have been affected.
AHRI’s response
AHRI’s website provider has confirmed that the malware has been removed.
AHRI has engaged forensic IT experts to lead an investigation into the incident to confirm if any (AHRI) data has been accessed and to ensure our website and systems are secure.
What should I do?
We recommend that you:
- Run virus scans on your laptop or PC to ensure that your device remains virus free.
- Contact your IT department if your virus scanner detects any abnormalities.
Where should I go for more information?
We will contact you if we receive further information that may affect you. If you would like to contact AHRI about this incident, please contact us on:

I am sincerely sorry about this incident. We take cyber security very seriously and I am working closely with AHRI’s executive team and internal and external IT specialists to ensure our systems are as secure as they need to be, and as you would expect them to be.
